Testing that dynamic code download does NOT occur. It appears you are using early binding to the com object, what happens if you change to late binding?
You could try to use Process Monitor to capture a logfile of using objTerminal. Open when Word is closed and then again when Word is open and see if you can note any differences. Thanks a bunch for your suggestions. We have been testing, and it seems that the VB developer can't use late binding as the implementation is using events.
The compiler simply won't accept an "object" with events. I have compared the output from Process Monitor in the scenario where it works and where it doesn't. During that test, I noticed that it isn't Word as such that causes the problem. We see the same behaviour with Outlook.
We are aslo using Axosoft "OnTime" which shows the same behaviour. If OnTime is running, the com-communication fails?! From the monitoring I can see that it is Java that somehow fails.
This is the lines where it works:. We have sent this information to the hardware manufacturer. But perhaps I should consult the java community also?
